Day 5: Enslaved

Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. — Romans 6:19.

Read the whole passage in Romans 6:15-23

For some, it is alcohol or drugs. For many, gossip, lust, or pride. For others maybe shopping, television, or twinkies. Everyone has a deadly habit, a pattern of life and thought that enslaves us to sin and evil. It captures our attention and makes us dependent on something other than God. That something cares not if we live, cares not if we suffer or if we poison our future. It is without a heart, without a care, without a desire that we succeed or live full lives. For it is Jesus, and him alone, who came to bring us life to the fullest. He is a demanding king and an exacting master, but one with our best interest at heart. While a few will see their struggle or their addiction melt away at the moment of faith, all can be sure that trusting Jesus means that sin on longer reigns supreme, that Jesus will one day make us perfect.

Talk with God
God, start that process in me, You know my struggles, and you know my addictions. Give me the freedom from those habits I so desperately need.

Live it. How will you live more second today?
Tell it. How will you share what you have learned?
