Father, into your hands I commit my spirit — Luke 23:46
Read the whole passage in Luke 23:26-56
Jesus came because there was a price to pay and a promise to fulfill. It was a promise that one day the world would end its wars and find peace from evil. It was a promise that rang true at Jesus death and came to fruition at his resurrection. Through his death sin is forgiven, the chains of evil broken, and the debt of humanity erased. While this world persists, its evils will still prevail. But Jesus promises a new and unending life, a new world after this one, one without sickness or pain or troule. He promises, for those who follow him a new heaven and a new earth will be our future. We are offered it free and clear if only we accept it.
