Day 5: Eyes Open

“Lord, I want to see, ” he replied. Jesus said to him, “Recieve your sight; your faith has healed you.” –Luke 18:41-42

Read the whole passage in Luke 18:31-43

He came to heal the sick, to restore the injured, and to give sight to the blind. But a good doctor does more than healing the symptoms; he addresses the cause of those symptoms. Blind eyes signal a broken world. Lame feet tells of an imperfect universe, one that allows pain and injury, injustice, and suffering, an existence ruled by chaos and chance rather than order and benevolence. The creator of the universe became part of that universe, a man who walked among his creatures. He did it all so that those who believe in him, those with faith in his strength could be healed of the disease of sin. We all have our symptoms. Physical or emotional, financial or relational, our jobs or our marriage, problems at school or at home. But while self-help books and celebrity doctors may offer treatments to soothe some of the pain, only Jesus can erase the disease itself.

Talk with God
Fix my broken world, Father. Provide for my needs. Heal my strained relationships and physical ailments, but most of all heal my soul stained with sin.

Live it. How will you live more second today?
Share it. How will you share what you have learned?
